CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Acro

Acro uses strength and flexibility to perform gymnastic-based tricks while teaching balance and coordination.  In this class, students perform conditioning exercises to prepare them for increased difficulty and work on floor skills that can be incorporated into their dance routines.  Skills include basic tumbling, backbends, cartwheels, front and back walkovers and for our more advanced dancers, back handsprings, aerials, back tucks, etc.  This is a non-recital class that pairs well with our Jazz Hip-Hop and Lyrical classes.

 

Ballet
Ballet is the foundation for all types of dance. Beautiful posture, poise, grace and flexibility are just some of the benefits of ballet. Pointe classes are offered for more advanced ballet students.

 

Combo (ages 2-&3)
Intro to Tap & Ballet plus Creative Movement. Our Combo classes introduce our youngest dancers to the joy of rhythm, movement, song, coordination and concentration. These classes gently teach proper form, while allowing students to delight in the joy of dance

Hip Hop Tap Tots (Pre-K) HH in Recital
Jazz Hip Hop with Intro to Tap Level 1. Students will learn control, flexibility, jazz terminology, technique, musicality and stylized movement.  Hip Hop is also ingrained with the use of isolations, body control and music. Creative Movement activities are also incorporated for fun and learning.

Hip-Hop & Breakdance (BOYS ONLY AND COED CLASSES AVAILABLE)
A popular form of urban street dance utilizing isolations and shapes. Students will work on rhythm, body control and musicality

 

Jazz Hip Hop (1st Grade and Up)
Jazz is an ever evolving dance form that is characterized by stylistic movement and rhythm. Students will learn strength, control, and flexibility as well as jazz terminology, technique and stylized movement.  Hip Hop is also incorporated with the use of isolations, body control and music.

 

Lyrical/Contemporary
Lyrical is a less restrictive form of ballet, jazz and modern dance. Students will focus on expressing themselves through music and movement

Musical Theater

Do you love, Dancing, Lip Syncing, Acting and being DRAMATIC? Well Musical Theater Dance is for you!  We will expand upon skills in Jazz/Hip Hop and Tap skills with a focus on theatrical dancing.  This class is a great place to learn, grow, and develop self-confidence.  Original and production choreography based on Broadway Shows, Movies, Television and more.

 

Pre-Competition & Technique

Perfect for students who want to spend more time dancing each week but aren’t ready for, or don’t want, full Competition level classes. Our Pre-Competition dancers are required to dance 2 hours per week – once for their regular dance and choreography class, and another for the Pre-Comp Technique class.

Tap
A dance born in America, tap develops a sense of rhythm and promotes coordination and concentration. Tap is characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. The sound is made by shoes that have a metal "tap" on the heel and toe.
